When you invest in a pool, you want to keep it sparkling clean and sanitary so it's always ready for a quick dip. You may even want to hire a pool service to make sure your pool water is always clean and safe to use. Keeping a pool clean requires more work than you might think. These factors affect how often you need to clean your pool.
When Trees Grow Near The Pool
When you have trees or flowering bushes near your pool, then keeping your pool clean is more work. Leaves and flowers will blow into the pool nearly every day. These need to be removed or they will sink to the bottom and make the pool dirty. Cleaning out leaves is fairly easy as long as you keep up with it. Skim the water with a net to pull out floating leaves and let your pool vacuum remove leaves that have fallen to the bottom. Cleaning out debris like leaves, pine needles, flower petals, grit, and bugs is a task that should be done daily if possible.
How Much The Pool Is Used
The more your pool is used, the dirtier it gets. That's because body oils wash off in the pool and combine with oil from suntan products to create an oily ring that forms on the side of the pool. This oily ring then grabs grit and bugs as they float by, and pretty soon, there's an ugly, slick ring around your pool. This pool ring has to be scrubbed off. Hiring a pool service to do it once a week might be sufficient, but if you have several people using the pool daily, you may need to scrub the sides more often. If you rarely use the pool, then you might get by with less frequent visits from the pool service.
When Chemicals Aren't Balanced
If you can't keep up with balancing the chemicals in your pool, then hiring a pool service is important. Otherwise, algae can grow on the sides of the pool and create dark, slick stains. Algae has to be scrubbed off and it may require additional pool treatments to kill it off. One important thing you'll want to learn when you install a pool is how to manage the chemicals. Learn how to test chemical levels and how to add treatments to your pool to keep algae at bay and keep the water sanitary. A pool service can do this task on a weekly basis, but you may still need to check chemical levels and make adjustments between visits from the pool company.
